Portree on the Isle of Skye
Portree on the Isle of Skye, the Islands capital is home to several thousand locals and has numerous shops bars and restaurants located around the towns centre. Portree Pier was famously designed by Scottish Civil engineer Thomas Telford, on which several fishing boats operate throughout the year. A visit to Portree pier is well worth a visit and locals can often be found fishing for mackerel in the summer.
In the town of Portree on the Isle of Skye, numerous restaurants and bars mean that whatever your dining and evening requirements they are sure to be met. During the summer live traditional Scottish music is available most evenings. The Isle of Skye Pipe band can also be found playing in the town centre every Tuesday during the summer months.
Tours of the Island are available by private taxi hire or by open top bus and are based in Portree. The open top bus operates several routes so whatever part of Skye you wish to see you will not miss out.
At night in Portree on the Isle of Skye, there are several bars in the area to wind down from a busy day of walking and sight seeing. Our own MacNabs Inn offers a selection of local ales and whiskys. Portree also has a selection of high street shops selling a range of traditional Scottish merchandise and gifts. Skye Soap sell a range of locally made soaps, Tippecanoe sell a selection of gifts such as scarves, clothing and books.
