What to do on Skye

What to do on Skye

What to do on Skye is a common question we get asked at the hotel. The Island of Skye is host to some brilliant mountain ranges and this makes for some excellent climbing routes. Most famously of all is the Cuillin Mountain Range offering several routes of varying difficulty. Once at the top many climbers have remarked that the view is quite remarkable. Several guides are available in the area, please see Skye Guides for more information.

For those wishing to hire bikes on the Isle of Skye The Royal Hotel highly recommends Skye Bike Shack. Here bikes can be hired for individuals or groups for days out and their is also a repair service and coffee shop for anyone who is passing. The cafe features a selection of cakes, coffees and teas. Perfect for a refuelling stop whilst exploring the Isle of Skye!

The Isle of Skye is also popular with cyclists, with good roads offering some challenging routes. One of the more popular routes is the Trotternish Circuit taking in 50 miles of the Islands north end passing famous sites such as the Old Man of Storr and the Quiraing.

At sea, yachts are available to be chartered. Please see Skye Yachts for further information. Sea tours are also available at various areas on the Island. Please see Boat Trips/ Tours for further information. Horse riding is also available just out of Portree. Please see Portree Kennels and Cattery for further information.

Horse riding is also available on the Island and is a great way to take in some of the sights of Skye. For further information, please see the Isle of Skye Trekking Centre.

Skye also offers excellent fresh and sea water fishing. The Storr Lochs located 10 minutes drive from Portree are an excellent spot and boats are also available for hire. For further information about fishing in the local area, please see the following sites:
