Walking on Isle of Skye

Walking on Isle of Skye

Walking on Isle of Skye is one of the most popular activities for visits.  Guided tours of The Cuillin Mountain Range are available by Skye Adventure. Experience the Island of Skye from some of it’s highest points with experienced mountaineers.

Voted by National Geographic magazine as the “4th best Island in the world”, Skye has some of the most spectacular scenery you are likely to see. Iconic rock face ‘The Old Man of Storr’ provides stunning views of the Storr Lochs and the Cuillin Hills Mountain range as a backdrop.

To the north of the Island the Quirang offers several walks and stunning views looking across to Gairloch. This is a favourite spot for professional photographers to capture a sun rise – well worth getting up early for!

Walking on Isle of Skye is a very relaxing experience. The Trotternish Ridge is a 20 mile walk over some of the most stunning landscape in Scotland.

To the West of the Island Neist Point Lighthouse again offers stunning views looking across out towards the outer Isles. From the car park the Lighthouse itself is only a 15 minute walk and the views at the end are well worth it.

Dunvegan Castle also has brilliant gardens, perfect for a relaxing afternoon walk. The castle also offers tours throughout the day.

The coral beach located on the West Coast of the Island is a must visit location on a sunny day. It is located just past Dunvegan castle.

The south of the Island is often referred to as the ‘Garden of Skye’. This is mainly due to the area being so fertile and rich in wooded area. Several outstanding walks are available in this area of Skye and are well worth a visit. For more information, please see Walk Highlands

Also in south Skye and an essential visit is the Clan Donald Centre, a 20,000 acre estate around Armadale Castle. Here, beautiful garden walks can make for a brilliant relaxing afternoon.

Wherever you choose to visit on Skye, brilliant views are guaranteed. All you have to do is remember to take your camera!
